Titan of the Month May 2023 – Stan Idzi

Stan Idzi, Titan of the Month, May 2023

I love when the weather is good around the pool where we entertain often. I enjoy going to hang out at vineyards and the local breweries and listening to live music.  I love to travel seeing new places, experiencing different people and cuisine.  I am fortunate I get to do this often both for work and personally.

What led you to try CrossFit?

In 2016 after several failed attempts at standard gyms my wife bought a Groupon to Titan.  I was hooked from the start, loving the varied workouts and tests on my fitness. The people are great everyone was very welcoming and supportive no matter what level at which you can perform.

Why did you continue to CrossFit?

The challenge to push myself to improve and the competitive nature of WODS keeps me coming back.  I am extremely competitive and appreciate the family nature at Titan where everyone wants you to succeed and pushes you outside your comfort zone.

Describe how your attitude towards health and fitness has evolved since you began your journey

I know everyone says it, but getting older is no fun.  I have learned that I must keep moving no matter how uncomfortable it can be.  I find that working out is not just physical, but for me it allows my mind to be somewhere else for an hour and is therapeutic for me.

Share a memorable CrossFit moment that makes you laugh or puts a smile on your face

There are many great moments but being at Titan & seeing a lot of great people makes my day and makes me feel better about myself.

What are you proud of and why?

I am proud that I continue to get better and stronger still hitting PR’s and learning new skills.

What’s your advice for other CrossFitters or people looking to start?

I will say it can be a little intimidating walking in the door not knowing what to expect.  I would tell anyone that comes in that you will get a lot of support from everyone in Titan, and you will always feel welcome.  No matter what your level, the workouts can be tailored around your ability.

Why the coaches chose Stan as Titan of the month

Stan is an incredibly even tempered, consistent person who is always ready with a smile. He watches, listens and takes everything in around him. Whether that’s to members speaking of their day or coaches handing out tips. He’s ready to listen, be supportive, take information to heart and do the best he can each and every day.  We’ve witnessed Stan’s perseverance before and after his knee surgery.  While frustrated at times with progress, he continued to come regularly.  He still continues to scale for how he is feeling on any day.  He places a lot of faith in his coaches and trusts that they have good advice. It’s clear his fitness is important to him; that moving is essential. He finds time to get to the gym more days than not even if that means coming to morning, mid-day or evening classes. Keep up the good work Stan! We know you will be part of the Titan Family for a long time to come.
