Kyle Venditti, Titan CrossFit, Titan of the Month May 2024

My name is Kyle and I am a Financial Advisor with Marshall Financial Group in Hunt Valley, MD. I studied at Penn State and hold a bachelor’s degree in business administration as well as several FINRA licenses. I was born and raised in a small town in central Pennsylvania called Berwick. I have an older brother who also shares a similar passion for CrossFit. Growing up, my primary sport was soccer, but I also played baseball, basketball and volleyball. In high school, I decided to focus mainly on soccer and in the off-season, I played for several different teams, and four to five days a week (it kept me busy). After high school, I continued my soccer career in college and was humbled and honored to be inducted into the Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame. Then, in 2017 is where my CrossFit journey began.

In my down time, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, hiking, backpacking, traveling, and spending time with my girlfriend and our two pups. 2024 has given me a whole new love and passion for CrossFit and I have Jessica and Titan CrossFit to thank for that.

What led you to try CrossFit?

I never really worked out outside of running with soccer. I wasn’t the best about committing to the gym and when I did go, I had no clue what I was doing and no clue what proper form was. My brother introduced me to CrossFit back in 2014 when I moved to Florida to live with him for a year (I took a year off of college). After the first couple of classes I was hooked. I started to enjoy going to the gym and not having to think about what I’m going to do; having a community that supported me and pushed me made CrossFit exciting and enjoyable.

Why do you continue to CrossFit?

For me, it is the community. The CrossFit community is important to me because it offers a network of support, encouragement, and camaraderie that fosters motivation and accountability. It didn’t matter that I was new to CrossFit because being part of a community that shared my passion for fitness created a sense of belonging and inspired me to push myself further than I would have on my own.

Describe how your attitude towards health and fitness has evolved since you began your journey

To be honest, I never really understood the importance of health and fitness until I started CrossFit. When I moved to DE after college, I started at a local CrossFit gym. This is when everything changed for me. The owner/coach pulled me aside one day after class and said he wanted to do a personal program and diet plan for me. He was very blunt with me and said I have the leg strength and endurance, but my upper body was weak, and I needed to get stronger. I couldn’t do one strict pull up… CrossFit made me realize the importance of a healthier lifestyle and how to balance strength and cardio.

Share a memorable CrossFit moment that makes you laugh or puts a smile on your face

Going back to when I started CrossFit, I remember how frustrated I was that I couldn’t do a single strict pull up. After several months of CrossFit and training four to five days a week, not only was I able to get several strict pull ups but I also attempted my first bar muscle up and got it on my first try. This was a huge accomplishment for me, and the community immediately congratulated me. CrossFit has been a very rewarding and humbling experience.

What are you proud of and why?

Being inducted into the Hall of Fame at Penn State fills me with an immense sense of pride and gratitude. It represents the many years of dedication, hard work, and passion I have for soccer. This is a testament to the countless hours I spent honing my skills, the sacrifices I made along the way, and the support from my coaches, teammates, and most importantly my family. Without their support, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve any of my successes in soccer. Being recognized in this way is a humbling reminder of the impact I’ve had on the university and its sports legacy, and I am proud to be forever recognized in its prestigious Hall of Fame.

What’s your advice for other CrossFitters or people looking to start?

My advice to people looking to join CrossFit, is consistency and patience are key. Focus on mastering proper form and technique before adding weight or intensity. Don’t compare yourself to others; progress at your own pace and celebrate your victories, no matter how small they may seem. Recovery is just as important as training, so prioritize rest, nutrition, and mobility work to prevent injury and optimize performance. Lastly, embrace the community aspect of CrossFit; surround yourself with supportive peers who can motivate and encourage you along your fitness journey

Why the coaches chose Kyle as Titan of the month

Kyle quickly found a community here at Titan. He encouraged other Titans to step out of their comfort zones and take the leap to compete in CrossFit. He talks to people as if he has known them forever. Kyle encourages everyone around him. He is an amazing athlete who knows he’s not perfect and accepts coaching advice from coaches and peers in his quest to always improve. Kyle makes newcomers feel welcome. He’s courteous, helpful and never above starting with the basics. We are so fortunate that Kyle chose Titan. He is an invaluable addition to our community due to his competitive nature, sense of humor and strong bond with others.
