I grew up in Michigan, love camping, boating, pretty much anything outdoors. I am an Interior Designer, graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. I currently have my own business providing consulting services to commercial clients offering design and construction management/owner’s rep services. I have been married to Bill Augustin for almost 22 years, we have three children, our oldest is on her way to college this fall. We met at a bar 27 years ago and have been together ever since!
What led you to try CrossFit?
My husband fell in love with Titan CrossFit about 11 years ago. It really changed his health and wellness, it’s been pretty cool to watch. I waited too long to give it a try but I am hooked!
Why do you continue to CrossFit?
I enjoy the challenge. I confess that almost every time I read the work out, I doubt that I will be able to do it… but I usually leave feeling pretty good about myself. I have learned to scale when needed and slowly I am making progress. I also like the focus on overall fitness. I have started to take the mobility class on Saturdays and that is great too.
Describe how your attitude towards health and fitness has evolved since you began your journey
I let my own health and wellness take a back seat, I think it happens often to Mothers. I wanted to set a better example for my kids so I started to focus more on nutrition and exercise. When you wait until you are 49 to start, it is slow but I am seeing small improvements. I look forward to my daily work out and seeing all the smiling faces and support from friends at Titan is very motivating!
Share a memorable CrossFit moment that makes you laugh or puts a smile on your face
Completing my first Murph with Marianne! We were intimidated by the amount of work, so together we each completed half of the program. At the end we looked at each other and both said ” we could have done the whole thing!” Next time we will but it was really fun to partner up and tackle it together! I love the camaraderie that comes with the Titan CrossFit community.
What are you proud of and why?
Making the commitment and sticking to it. Holding myself accountable. Now, even if I can’t get to the gym, I try to get a work out in at home. I can also see small improvements and that feels good!
What’s your advice for other CrossFitters or people looking to start?
I think people believe that CrossFit is all flipping tires and lifting crazy weight. That is definitely an option but it is so much more than that! I would tell them to just give it a try! Focus on your own ability, pace yourself, learn how to do the lifts correctly and build from there. You have to start somewhere, and I am so glad that I chose Titan.
Why the coaches chose Marci as Titan of the month
In the relatively short time that Marci has been at Titan, she has impressed all of us with her dedication and her consistency. She has made huge strides with her strength, mobility, and her endurance. When Marci first started, she was unsure of what she could do and hesitant to push her limits. It has been great to see her confidence really grow over the past 6 months. Marci has learned when to push and when to back off a bit. She chooses movements and variations based on what she is capable of that day. Her warm personality has earned a place in all of her coach’s hearts. Marci has expressed a long-term interest in improving her health and fitness and doesn’t get caught up with the leaderboard. Thanks for being such an asset to the Titan community!
