Hello fellow Titans. I’m Brandon Martin. A 30-year-old Electrical Maintenance worker from Baltimore, Maryland. I started my CrossFit journey in July 2021 after trying a class while on vacation in Florida. After doing some research I found Titan CrossFit and was able to try it out. My first class was exciting. I was immediately greeted by Lance and Tom. Both men helped me during class as well as other classmates. To me it was a culture shock because typically in exercise settings everyone wants to be the best and show how they are better than the next person. But in CrossFit the goal is to succeed and then help the person next to you succeed. After my first class I knew I would be back.

Why did you end up sticking with CrossFit?

I ended up sticking with CrossFit because of the people. Our gym is filled with so many great people of all different skill levels from all different places and do different jobs etc. But we are all able to come together and help better each other. Yes it’s about exercising but its overall just a positive environment. It’s also been very beneficial to my health and I do see physical changes that are motivating. It’s a very big part of my life at this point. My friends tell me all the time ” I know you really love CrossFit because that’s all you want to talk about” They don’t realize what we do at Titan isn’t just workout. We have created a lifestyle and a family and everyone in the building is constantly becoming stronger physically as well as mentally because we push ourselves to the limits and do things, we never thought we were capable of when we started.

What achievement or PR are you most proud of, and what is your next goal you’re working toward?

My PR that I’m currently most proud of is my bench press. I was able to complete 315 as a one rep max but since then I have been able to do 300 for 6 reps so I’m sure I can go well above 315. My next goal is to improve my endurance so I’m able to be more fluent with workouts that contain running, burpees, devils press etc.

What advice would you give to someone who is New Or Considering Trying CrossFit?

My best advice to a new member or someone considering starting is simple. S T A R T. You may even end up being Titan of the Month like me!!!
